Hello! My name is Hector DeLeon!
I am a senior at the University of Kansas studying journalism with a concentration in sports media and society, film and media, and photography. I am hoping to be involved in sports media someday as either a photographer, videographer or a sports broadcaster.
I have been doing photography since high school, and have taken photos all over the country. I have taken photos for the non-profit organization FOCUS and for the St. Lawrence Catholic Center at KU.
I was a film and media studies major for my first two years at KU, where I made three short films and helped develop a project with clients as part of the Quindaro group in Kansas City. Apart from school, I have made two montage videos of my time in Peru and Ecuador, which you can check out on my Youtube channel here.
My goals being a part of the journalism school are to develop skills and abilities to achieve the things I am most passionate about, but also gain experience for possible career pursuits.
Outside of journalism, I was involved with KU’s marching band, the Marching Jayhawks, and I’m heavily involved at the St. Lawrence Catholic Center. I enjoy fitness, listening to music and taking risks!
